bits of berlin, part 2

Friends, the suspense is all but killing me. I want to actually reflect on The Hive and share substantial thoughts from Berlin.... but I can't yet. For the next three weeks, I'm enrolled in a summer course entitled "Cultural Diversity and Globalization." We're examining the notion of culture, its discourses and practices, and how difference is mobilized socially, politically, and economically on a daily basis. Fascinating stuff, I tell ya. I've also started my internship; part-time for now and will upgrade to full-time when I get back from New York. Busy, busy bee. And so, I'm considering this today's coffee break :) remember with me, won't you?
I slept in on my last day in Berlin. It was 11am by the time I stumbled through my neighborhood to Kaffebar for a fabulous and necessary cappuccino. Afterwards, I ventured to Museum Island to see a handful of sights I'd missed the day before, and then, hurried back to meet the boy's parents. They were swinging by to take me out for  a "real German" lunch at Schleusenkrug in the most beautiful Tiergarten. Following our meals (and sparrow-feeding), we went for a stroll, ending up at the famous Cafe Kranzler. We couldn't help but get coffee and apple pie. And then, eventually, they dropped me off at the airport. Gosh, it was wonderful.
