make juice, not war

Good morning, gorgeous. <- Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? One of my favorite things about the Crazy, Sexy Diet (and thus, Kris Carr) is how fun, empowering, and complimentary her word choices are. They're the kind of words that I might use towards my best friends, the people I love and care about, and the ones I should use towards myself. I don't usually, but upon waking this morn I said the italicized statement to myself; it's set quite the spectacular tone for the day.
Then there's the drinking at least one green drink/smoothie daily as advised. It takes spending more money, buying more produce, and taking more time to prepare and then clean-up, but it's so worth it. The simple, raw blends that've been fueling my mornings have not only been nourishing my body, but my mind and soul as well. I feel clearer, more energetic, and fabulous knowing that I'm treating myself so gosh darn well. Talk about a self-love boost!
For the past few mornings, I've been sipping hot lemon water while I prepare breakfast in my Breville ikon Hemisphere Blender: three handfuls of spinach, a ripe banana, half of a sliced cucumber, avocado slices (1/4), some chopped romaine, a tablespoon of flax, 2 cups of almond milk, and a couple dashes of cinnamon. It's a delicious and satisfying compliment to the occasional Andy's Pure Food green juice. What do you do for y-o-u in the a.m.?

  1. I love reading about how wonderful you are feeling from this crazy sexy...cleanse. Green Juices and smoothies really create a great feeling and I probably need to remind myself of that and make some considering I have a juicer and blender. You've inspired me to start my day with one tomorrow. This week, I am trying to lessen the gluten in my diet so I've been starting my days with gluten free steel cut oats cooked with the usual things (banana, nut milk, chia, flax) and topped with berries and raw almond butter. My body usually craves warm things in the morning until the weather warms up, but I should try a change!

  2. So happy to hear how this is working for you!!! i wish i could jump on it but i simply don't have the time, or resources. things are getting $$ here in CA...

and for me in the am...stretch. i may still be laying in bed and half asleep, but the stretch is always the best!

  3. That sounds like good smoothie- I never really got on the drinkable breakfasts bandwagon, but I can see how it can be fun coming up with various combinations.
In the morning, I love nothing more than laying in bed with my coffee and breakfast catching up on all my favourite fluff websites/blogs...sometimes if I have enough time before class/no work to do I even take a bubble bath in the morning- starting off the day in tranquility always yields good results :)

  4. claire: Aw thanks, lady! Have you felt a difference with avoiding gluten? I'm not sure if I have. I definitely feel lighter but that could be due to a bunch of adjustments I've made to my daily lifestyle. I usually crave warmth but I'm not sure if that'll change after 21 days of this.

Trying To Heal: Thank you, it's definitely a commitment. Stretching feels phenomenal in the morning. I agree.

saltwatercoffee: Me neither usually, but I'm finding the addition of the avocado makes it feel more special and fills me up better. Love leisurely mornings like that.
